Care Assistant
The role:
An excellent opportunity to work in a beautiful 5 bedded house that puts kindness, caring, compassion and hope first. We seek care assistants that have these attributes to join our friendly and professional team.
1. Assessing resident needs through robust Support Planning and Risk Assessments and obtaining necessary information from other agencies.
2. Ensure that resident support plans and risk assessments are followed and contribute to regular reviews of these plans, for individuals to achieve the greatest possible control over their own life.
3. Assist residents to manage and maximize their finances effectively and monitor regular rent and service charge payments where appropriate.
4. Ensuring that all residents’ records are accurately maintained.
5. Promote independent living, confidence building, self-awareness, training, education, employment opportunities, and participation in the local community.
6. Enable residents to develop and implement their support plan needs and risk assessments.
7. Communicate/consult with relatives, partners, advocates, friends or carers and other staff and agencies, as appropriate, regarding the resident’s health, social care, and well-being.
8. Promote resident involvement in shaping and monitoring services, so they have real choice and control over the service they receive.
9. Provide high quality, responsive and person-centered services that meet the physical, mental and emotional needs of residents and ensuring people have choice and control over their own lives.
10. Be aware of and follow Houses of Hope policies and procedures, with particular attention to standards of resident service, health and safety, and equality and diversity
11. Demonstrates a sensitive and supportive approach to vulnerable people maintaining their dignity and self-respect at all times.
12. Knowledge of welfare benefits.
13. Good written and oral communication, numeracy, IT and interpersonal skills.
14. Knowledge of organizations providing services to vulnerable people.
15. Ability to cope with verbally aggressive and volatile situations.
Desirable:
16. Understanding of Health and Safety issues.
17. Experience in supported housing work including housing management, advocacy, and debt management.
18. Be able to cover shifts at short notices and be flexible in a demanding working environment Qualifications
19. Appropriate professional or vocational qualification – desirable. NVQs 2-3
Key Outcomes:
20. Residents achieve independent living.
21. Activity programs within the scheme or community where appropriate.
22. Appropriate support plans are in place and implemented. Residents’ finances are managed with support
